Cabinet meet to discuss budget plans
Executives in search of Irish sales jobs may be interested to learn the cabinet will meet this morning (November 24th) to consider next month’s budget plans.
They were brought together to consider what would need to be done to cut sovereign debt by 2.2 billion euros in line with the International Monetary Fund and European Union bailout deal.
Part of the discussion was also due to consider cuts in the Department of Social Protection.
Last week, leaked documents sent to leaders of the EU stipulated this was an area set to face particularly stringent cutbacks worth up to 700 million euros.
According to the Irish Times, the government was forced to defends its alliance on the cuts, fighting rumours of a split in the coalition over budget changes.
Joe Higgins TD accused Taoiseach Enda Kenny and his ministers of “cynical kite-flying exercises” about potential cutbacks and suggested he was manipulating the media with disaster stories, the news provider reported.
Minister for finance Michael Noonan will announce the final budget on December 6th.
